Please enjoy these work in progress photos of The Golden Rays of Homo Superior, a project which debuted on stage on November 15, 2025 for Rhinestone Steel at the Glitterbox Theater.
Each of the 26 stuffed hearts is made of 10 pieces of fabric (five points on each side) and then stuffed with fluff. There are four stars that are not stuffed, three embroidered as snaps and the one on the back. The snaps were originally manufactured in West Germany, so they’re probably around 50 years old. I got them at the Pittsburgh Center for Creative Reuse.
The yellow fabric was purchased out of someone’s yard in my neighborhood. The pink base shirt was thrifted. I had to learn how to make a collar for the first time and used this gold fabric and some interfacing I traded with someone online to get.
